Tri Suits

If you’re pouring over details before you make your purchase, check out the Santini technical features guide. This provides an excellent insight into the quality and features of materials used across all cycling kit. In terms of triathlon gear, we recommend you keep the following in mind:

-A top aerodynamic fit that minimises the chance of any additional drag/resistance

-Look for fabric that has been tested in wind tunnels

-Breathable fabric to keep you as ventilated and dry as possible. Whether it’s sprint, Olympic or endurance, there will be a lot of sweat for sure!

-Superb quality cycling chamois that is significant enough to protect on the bike but so subtle you won’t even know it’s there on the swim or run

-Ultraviolet protection embedded into fabric

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a triathlon suit

It is purpose-designed kit to be worn across all three disciplines of a triathlon. So you can swim, bike and run in this kit, thus eliminating the need to change in transition.

Do I need a tri suit for a triathlon

You don’t need one per se, but they certainly can make a huge difference. Why? Because you can perform all three disciplines in one kit and not have to change at any point. Whilst some triathletes will wear swimmers right the way through, a kit covers more skin and is ideal if you’re worried about sunburn or you simply prefer to be a little less exposed. Wearing bike shorts on the bike is fine, but they’re ‘heavy’ to swim in and can be awkward to run in, meaning you would need to change in T1 and then again in T2, which is far from ideal.

Do you wear underwear with a triathlon suit?

We do not recommend you wear underwear. Like shorts and tights, this kit is designed to minimise chafing, wick away moisture and maximise comfort and performance. Adding underwear just compromises these features.
